Personality & Traits
| General Overview | Lady Vanei: Seventh heir to the throne. She has a calm and measured approach and is known for her insistence on hearing all sides. She is a strong supporter of stability and balance in everyday life and in governance. Her House is the designated tie-breaker amongst the Ladies, a tradition that has lasted seven generations. Because of this, she has a reputation for fairness and a unique ability to hold a room in thoughtful silence. She is considered one of the more grounded voices in Lonian politics. Lady Emeyr: Third heir to the throne. The youngest to assume the throne and the newest of the four Ladies. She prefers social warmth over hierarchical formality, as she believes that a welcoming atmosphere helps a negotiation feel like a shared problem rather than a confrontation. This sometimes makes people underestimate her, especially due to the short time in her role. She has a talent for conversation and can talk your ear off if you let her. Lady Relou: Fifth heir to the throne. Quiet but endlessly curious. She values tradition and the exploration of new ideas equally. Her House works closely with scholars, researchers, planning committees, and more, from both Lonian and alien societies. Her personality is often described as somewhere between Vanei and Emeyr, being inquisitive and thoughtful but also enthusiastic about new knowledge. Lady Sama: Fifth heir to the throne. Often viewed as icy, calculating, and rigid, especially after the death of her predecessor in the Bedia War. To her, security isn't just legislature, it's a moral imperative, and her personal discipline reflects that. Her presence commands attention, even amongst the other Ladies. Civilians have controversial opinions about her, where some believe she is keeping Lonians safe and others believe she is too restrictive. Her dangerous trait is her ability to be strategically patient, and that trait has allowed her to pass legislation that gradually expands her authority. Each Lady has a court consisting of: - A consul: direct advisor to the throne. Responsible for intra-House communications. - Three vassals: the security detail responsible for the throne's safety. - An advisor: responsible for communications between Houses. Reports directly to the consul. - An attendant: retrieves things by the throne's request. Effectively a servant. The Lonian government is segmented into four branches: administrative and judicial affairs, diplomatic relations, culture and innovation, and defense and security. This division of power serves to create checks and balances within the government. Each House has full authority within its domain, however it is common for legislation to require input from multiple Houses. The Ladies will regularly convene to discuss legislation or anything requiring input from more than one House (for example, laws that impact civilians), and the First House is the traditional tie-breaker. |
