Mal swore softly. The replicator had decided to stop working and despite numerous attempts on his part to repair he, he couldn't find anything to repair. It simply refused to work. "I don't know Kara, I can't find anything wrong with it. It just isn't working." He sighed, "I really wanted two glasses wine as it is almost nine." He softly mused as Kara went to check on the children. An instant later two glasses of wine appeared. A shocked looked appeared on his face. "KARA!" He yelled. "Come here quickly!" As he continued to stare at the two glasses of wine.

“You fixed it!” Kara smiled as she walked over to Mal. “Didn’t you?” She could see the look of surprise on his face, which made her wonder..

Mal shook his head, "I don't think so sweetie. Ask for something. You'll see." Mal said as he waited for Kara to ask for something from the replicator.

“Okay, erm… chocolate ice cream please” Kara stood waiting only for nothing to happen, just as she turned her back the replicator came to life instead giving her a drink of warm cocoa. “Well that’s better than nothing I suppose” she shrugged her shoulders.

"No wait look." Mal replied. "Replicator, please be kind. Give my wife and I some food so we may dine." An instant later two plates full of food appeared. "See?" Mal said. "We have to speak in rhyme to get any food." He explained.

“Ohh great! A poetic replicator!” Kara sighed. “These practical jokes or whatever they are, are getting to be something of a pain now.”

Mal sighed, "I agree love it is a pain but at least we figured out a way to get food, so that is a plus and it is going to test our rhyming abilities as well."

“I guess so” Kara shook her head and rolled her eyes. “Let’s see…Replicator, replicator please be mine, prepare some food so that we may dine.”

An instant later, two plates of steaming food appeared. "See?" Mal exclaimed, "You have to rhyme to get any food. This is so weird."

“For now let’s enjoy what feast we’ve got.” Kara grinned. “I hope the nursery are having better luck with their replicators.”

"True enough." Mal agreed. "As you said, let's enjoy the food we have as we have plenty now."

Kara nodded as she quickly picked up some cutlery and set it out on the table. “I’m going to enjoy this, then I’m going to look up more rhyme!” She grinned.

"I heard that and I am going to enjoy this as well. As for my rhymes I think that is a great idea and might be a huge help to us and eating."

“That’s if our playful friends don’t decide to change their minds” Kara offered a wry smile.

Mal looked about the room. "Ssshh Kara, don't give them any ideas. They are causing enough mischief on their own." Mal observed and then offered a smile of his own to match hers.

Sitting down to eat Kara tucked into her meal, she had to admit she was enjoying this more than she normally would have. “Mmm lovely!”

Mal nodded in agreement. "It is good, very good even if we had to rhyme to get it. For a minute I thought we might starve." Mal chuckled at his comment.

“Starve? Us? Never!” Kara smiled. “Besides there’s no way I’d let our child starve. Never underestimate the ingenuity of a mother protecting her child.”

Mal nodded in agreement. "Oh, I never underestimate you, Kara. I am fully aware of what you are capable of and what you can accomplish when you set your mind on a task."

Kara nodded. “Thank you Imzadi.” She paused to tuck into more of the food.

"You are welcome my love." Mal bantered back as he prepared to eat, he stopped and looked to Kara, "You are one amazing woman, Kara."

“As you are a wonderful and amazing man” Kara smiled.

"Okay, enough of the mushy stuff." Mal grinned at Kara. He so enjoyed being in her company She had the wonderful ability to just make him feel good.

“Yes sir!” Kara grinned playfully. “We don’t want this food getting cold now do we?”

"We definitely do not." Mal agreed readily. Then chucked, "I wonder what we will have to do to get dessert. A song and dance perhaps?"

“Dancing? Now there’s a fun idea” Kara grinned. “We haven’t danced since….our wedding I think, it’s been a while, "

Mal blinked, "Oh, Gosh. you are right! I can't believe it has been that long, and you are such a great dancer. We need to do get back to doing that. You know, pick a day, maybe once a month we have a dance day."

Kara nodded enthusiastically. "I love the sound of that! how's about once our playful guests have moved on?"

Mal nodded in agreement, "I like the sound of that! Get out your dancing shoes for we will soon be tripping the light fantastic."

“Sounds like fun to me!” Kara smiled. “Now let’s get this food finished before it goes to waste.”

"Right, you are love. Can't let the food go to waste after all who knows what we'll have to do to get our next meal. It may be much more involved than making up rhymes." Mal replied with a grin.
