Medical

Alicia was making her way around Medical offering comfort and understanding where needed. The whole situation was one she was just as horrified with, but she wasn’t going to let her own feelings interfere with her duties, plus she considered the crew were her extended family.

Emily and Heather were both taking a moment to catch their breath, it had been full on for so long that exhaustion had crept in. Now sitting in Heather’s small nurse’s office they were glad to get a rest.

Naxea took a shallow breath as she opened her eyes, tenderly touching the spot on the left side of her abdomen where she had been hit by a Galatonion harpoon. The area was still numb. Looking around, she found herself in a medical recovery room.

Gary was in medical checking on repairs as well as getting the dreaded casualty report when he spotted a familiar face on one of the bio beds. Making his way over he offered a concerned but warm smile. "You just have to be the center of attention." He whispered as his hand moved to clasp hers. "What happened and are you alright?"

"Hey," she replied, looking up at Gary, happy to see him. "Took a harpoon from one of those Galatonion beasts when they hit Marine Country. I feel ok, though that is probably because the wound feels numb."

"Probably." Gary replied. "So when you are released from here, you will continue your recovery in my quarters and your daughter will be there with you. No arguments please Naxea."

"What about Lil Lia? Is she ok with that?" Naxea asked softly.

"Are you kidding? She can't wait to have your daughter and you there with us. She is really looking forward to this." Gary replied with a smile of his own.

Naxea managed a weak smile. "That's good to hear. Sure.... we'll be there. Thank you."

Gary nodded, "Good deal. Someone has to look after you." He teased as he then he bent down and kissed her softly.

Tate was somber but she moved with purpose as she tended to the psychologically and medically wounded. She wanted to check on Naxea but didn’t realize Gary was with her, and walked in on what was a rather intimate moment. She was instantly embarrassed and tried to retreat, hoping she was stealthier than she imagined.

Naxea spotted Tate entertaining and starting to retreat. "It's alright, Doc," she said with a grin.

Gary looked up smiling, "Hi Tate, Come on over, you aren't intruding."

--------

Lt. Athena Magnus came by to check on Thor. She sees Lt Alice Jordan tells “Thor is going to be okay. Either you are Cam will have to be the Interim Chief or Permanent one. He was hit hard.”

Athena facepalms herself. “Is Lorelei and you okay?”

“We are thanks to Thor,” Alice answers with a sigh.

Varinity returned to Sickbay, checking the chronometer to confirm it was the right time. After being transported to Sickbay during the attack, the staff had to rush to keep her from bleeding out due to the abrupt loss of tamponade that the harpoon had provided. She had insisted that they just get her stable enough to clear the biobed for someone who needed it more. A shattered shoulder was less important than some of the more serious stuff she had seen. So she got a sling to immobilise the arm and was given a time to return. For good measure, she stuck around for a little bit to make sure she wouldn't faint, then felt confident enough to at least inspect the damage across the ship.

The pain medication she had been given was mostly gone by now, and each throb of pain cut into her energy reserves. With the enthusiasm of someone just wanting to go to bed, she trudged over to the intake area. "Last name Atoro. I was told to come back for surgery," she informed the medic at the console. She hadn't bothered to change clothes yet, so the bloodied and torn hole in the uniform exposed the bruising and lingering damage in all its glory.

T'Kek approached the woman as he took in her bloodied appearance. He recalled that she had been admitted to Sickbay following a rather serious injury. "Right this way," T'Kek stated with a gesture. "Let's see how you're doing,"

With a nod, Varinity followed. It would be nice to use both arms again. The thought of how damn good that bed was gonna feel when she slipped under the covers kept her powering through this.

T'Kek led her to a bio bed. "Have a seat. How are you feeling?" he asked as he took a look at her vitals as they popped up on the screen behind the bed

The answer she wanted to give remained a thought, this time. "Like I am ready to be unconscious," Varinity replied as she shimmied up onto the bed. It was slightly more inconvenient doing it with one hand. "The medication wore off, so it hurts. A lot."

T'Kek grabbed a nearby hypsray. " I'll give you three ccs of Anesthizine to help with the pain." he stated as he loaded the hypospray. "Afterwards , I'll take a look at the tendons and muscles in your shoulder to see how they're doing."

"Hopefully not shredded by the bone pieces," Varinity murmured. Her head tilted slightly when she felt the hypospray, then sighed as that sweet juice worked its magic. "My hero..."

The comment caused T'Kek to chuckle. "Just doing my job," he replied with a grin as he set the hypospray down and picked up a Medical tricorder, scanning Varinty's shoulder. There were indeed some fragments. He set the tricorder down and moved to grab a bone knitter. "This will take care of the fragments. You may feel some slight discomfort bur it shouldn't take any longer than a few minutes."

As the seemingly endless run of surgeries was beginning to slacken off, J'Air breathed a sigh of relief. She was silently thanking any Gods, Spirits or Entities of any religion she had ever encountered, not being at all fussy about their scriptures but just SO grateful that Chuck hadn't been one of those in the queue this time around.

Gently reconstructing the last gash of the final patient, (Patient in situation as well as patient in attitude as she'd waited whilst literally hundreds had gone before her) So many for repair of some minor, like these, and initially the many major, emergency, life-saving (or losing - it happened!) operations but fortunately this was at the non-critical end of the scope and there was an opportunity for a little lightness and humour in the conversation at this final part of two of the longest days in forever for J'Air.

It wasn't as if the ACMO hadn't worked for this amount of hours without an opportunity to rest or stop but it was the emotional pressure and wear and tear of having been immersed in each and every personal case that she had worked. The regrets as well as the successes, the rush to try to help so many with so much in such a tiny amount of time before the next person also ran out of time, or might do...... or the next after them, and so on down the priority list. It was a whole new aspect of exhausting that went on at a completely separate level to the physical skills that she had been using to repair, regenerate and rescue at the same time.

J'Air looked up at the CMO and smiled weakly. They had worked side by side, if not literally and it was oddly bonding to be set against the same biological clock racing and similar pressure to conquer the odds and numbers of people needing their care.

Marine Country

Leilani was busy in marine medical checking off the last of the more minorly wounded marines, she was almost grateful that the smaller facility meant she got the lesser wounded. The tally was likely to be too high to contemplate and not just where the marines were concerned.

Gami walked into Marine medical, she stopped, taking in the wounded Marines. The recent battle had dropped their numbers even further. So much so that their combat effectiveness was down to one full squad. Thirteen combat ready Marines out of twenty remaining Marines. "Hey Doc," she greeted as she approached Leilani. "How is it going?"

“Hi Gami” Leilani smiled warmly. “It’s going okay, I’m thankful that this facility only deals with the more minor injuries and those recovering. We’ve been hit pretty bad by these attacks.”

"That's putting it mildly. Is there anything that you need?" she asked, stopping across the medical bed from Leilani.

“Apart from a whole replacement set of medical supplies for those we’ve used up, not much” Leilani offered. “Though an extra pair of hands always comes in handy.”

-------

Over to one side of the Marine medical bay, Liam was resting, while his leg was slowly being stitched back together from where the Harpoon had impaired him. The surgeon who had performed the main part of the repair had told him that he was lucky. Had he not been in his combat armor, he would have both lost his leg entirely, and probably bled to death before anyone had had the chance to get to him.

As soon as he was able, he sent a message to Samaire and his brothers, letting them know what had happened, praying they all were unharmed.

Secure Location/Bunker

Andrinn was evacuated from the diplomatic suites on Deck Two to a more secure location. But, it made it where all of them were in a bunker with bumps and bruises. Andrinn walked around to check on everyone to make sure that they were doing okay. He walked over to the nearby medkit on the wall and got out a few things to help with those bruises and bumps. Thankfully, he had worked through his annual emergency medical training course not too long ago. So, Andrinn should have been able to fix up more than enough down there.....or so he hoped.

Starfighter Wing Commander's Office

Still in his flight-suit, George was sitting behind the desk meant to be used by the Elysium's wing commander. Given their horrendous losses since finding themselves in the Circinus Galaxy, he now found that it was the role he had been elevated to by sheer attrition.

As he looked over the reports of casualties and damages, that attrition was even higher. Even with the addition of the Romulans and their Talon starfighters. They were still below what Elysium should have had by nearly twenty percent.

For the next few hours, he continued to pour over the various reports seeing what his current pilot/starfighter operational ratio was currently set. He was down to five fully operational Raptors and four Griffins. There was the possibility of getting two and one more, respectively, back on line, but he did not have the pilots to fill them. Of the Romulans, there were ten fully functioning Talons, with three more repairable. For those, there were enough pilots to go around.

He knew that the two crews now had to become one to survive, however, he would wait to see what the Commodore put forward as new policy first, before he started making any plains for his department.

Late inti the evening, he finally shut things down, and made his way home. He could already feel Leilani reaching out to him over their link. He could sense that she was both exhausted, and very worried about him.

Science

N'vok assessed the damage to the science department, thankfully minimal, and then began coordinating with other departments to help in analysis and repairs. He paused in his work to send a note to Anna and another to T'Sai to let them both know he was safe and to make sure that they were as well.

Once he had that sorted, he grabbed his toolkit and headed out to help with getting the Elysium shipshape again. It was getting harder each time as damage accumulated that could not be repaired with the resources at hand, but he, and the rest of the crew, would do their best.

Anna was actually there in the flesh a few minutes later. She had a toolbox in her hand. There were a lot of repairs to be made. Engineering, Science, and Operations all needed to pitch in. But she had also been worried. She set her box aside a moment and threw her arms around him. "I'm so glad you're ok," she said, but she was reaching for it seconds later. There was time for feelings later. "Have you heard from T'Sai?"

N'vok embraces Anna for a moment. "I was worried for you." He reluctantly lets her slip from his arms. "T'sai sent one of her 'I am safe' codes, so she all is well with her." He grabbed his toolkit. "Where should we begin?"

Main Engineering

Tapping the PADD, Cam studied the LCARS panel on the console. Extensive repairs on multiple systems across the decks of the Elysium slowed the process considerably. However, with the DOT system, repair continued ongoing. Checking on the status of the repairs every five minutes, she started to see progress. Her console beeped, checking off one task from the EPS power distribution. Walking through the passing engineering personnel, Cam checked on the status of the warp core. It remained standing and intact, as the shields protected it from becoming damaged.

Checking the PADD, a new update showed up on her display, informing her of Thor's status in sickbay. She received a medical update on his status. Until he's cleared, Cam was in charge. If it's the universe's funny way of showing its appreciation, she didn't find it funny. Scrolling to the next item on her list, she headed halfway toward the lift. Marine Country was next on her list, as they got the brunt of the attack.
