It was move in day for Naxea and her daughter. Time for them to relocate to Gary and LL's quarters and the moving in started early. At precisely 0700, Naxea arrived with her daughter and a few items. Gary and LL had been up and dressed for an hour. LL was a ball of nervous energy as she literally was bouncing with excited anticipation of having a sister to play , talk and share secrets with, For his part Gary was quietly pleased that Naxea had finally agreed to move in, He felt it would help them grow even closer (at least he hoped so).
Naxea moved to set Sle'anna down in a chair, handing her a bottle. "Sle'anna, stay here, ok?"
"Ok," Sle'anna said as she grabbed the bottle and hungrily began to down it's contents. Sle'anna was starting to say words on a regular basis though it seemed her favorite word was 'no' many times so she was happy Sle'anna was behaving.
Naxea turned to Gary. Thank you," she said, taking a step towards him.
"You are most welcome. I'm glad you decided to take me up on my offer. I think you and Sle'anna will be very happy here." Gary replied extending his hands to Naxea.
"Yeah, I'm sure we will be," she replied as she stepped into him, wrapping her arms around him before giving him a kiss. "How are you, Lia?" she asked after breaking away from the kiss
Flashing a smile, LL replied, "I am fine Miss Naxea. I'm happy you and Sle'anna are here with Daddy and myself. I can't wait to play with Sle'anna and know her better."
Naxea returned the smile. She was glad LLwas happy to play with Sle'anna but she was also a bit worried. "Ok, but just be careful. She doesn't really know her own strength still. She's still learning."
LL's head bobbed up and down happily, "Don't worry Miss Naxea, I will be careful. We're going to have a great time together." The child assured her.
"I'm sure you will," she said before turning back to Gary. "Are you sure about this? I feel like I'm imposing."
"Of course I'm sure Naxea. We've been through this. You and your daughter are welcome here. These are your quarters and you are perfectly welcome here." Gary answered with a smile.
"I know," she replied before pausing for a moment. "I'm just feeling nervous I guess."
Gary chuckled at her comment. "Well, get it out of your system. I want you to relax and feel comfortable here, not uptight and stressed,"
'Easier said than done,' she thought. Her duties was nothing but stressful. But Gary was right. She needed to relax, if only for Sle'anna. "Thank you," she replied. "I still have several bags to grab from my quarters."
"Of course Naxea." Gary answered with a smile. :Need some help with your bags? We can get everyone involved, get it done quicker and you and Sle'anna settled in faster as well.'
"No, no. I'll get them. My quarters are just down the corridor anyway, Can you keep an eye on Sle'anna while I go and grab them?". Luckily she was never a big traveler.
"Are you sure?" Gary questioned. "I'm glad to help you and yes I can keep an eye on Sle'anna for you. LL can help keep her occupied."
"Are you sure it's ok to let LL watch Sle'anna by herself?" LL was still a young child herself.
Gary smiled, "I thought, I said I was going to stay with Sle'anna but more as an overseer as she and LL play together and yes I trust LL to not let any harm come to Sle'anna."
"Just making sure," Naxea said, grinning, raising a cautionary finger as she turned to walk out of the quarters.
Ah, my mistake." Gary replied with a smile. "I'm counting the minutes until you return, so no dawdling." He teased.
Naxea only laughed as she exited the quarters. She thought about their time in this new and distant galaxy. It had been rough to put it mildly. She and S'hib had broken up, nearly lost her entire department over time. She wondered if they would ever reach home.
Half an hour later, Naxea returned, carrying more bags. Most of it were Sl'eanna's toys. "Miss me?" she teased.
Sitting on the couch Gary looked up at her, "I certainly did." He said rising, "Let me help you with those." he said reaching for some of the bags. "Now sit down and rest."
Handing the bags to Gary, Naxea nodded. "That does sound good," she admitted with a tired sigh.
"I have them from time to time." Gary replied as he took the bags Gary moved them to their bedroom before returning to Naxea. "Want something to drink or eat?"
"Of course. I could use a Samarian Sunrise," she replied as she moved to the sofa and sat down.
"Sure thing. One Samarian Sunrise coming up." Gary replied as he turned and headed for the kitchen, stopping halfway. "You want a snack to go along with your drink?" He asked as he turned to face her.
She shook her head slightly. "No. Thank you. Do you need help with anything?"
Gary grinned at her, "I can always use the company. Because making drinks is such exhausting work." He finished managing to keep a straight face.
"Yeah, yeah, keep it up," she warned him, smiling as she followed him into the kitchen.
Entering the kitchen Gary turned to face her his arms going up, reaching to bring Naxea close to hold. The smile still plastered on his face. "Now I believe you said you wanted a Samarian Sunrise, a request I am happy to fulfill." He said as he continued his smile growing larger, " But first I regret to inform you there is a processing fee of one kiss associated with your request. Do you still want the drink?" He finished his smile going from ear to ear as he waited for her to reply.
"You are ridiculous," she chuckled. "It's a bit steep, but I suppose I'll pay it," she replied as she leaned in to kiss him.
Gary returned the kiss tenderly. "A bit steep?" he questioned grinning as he did. "Ridiculous? I just like to be have a good time with the people I care about. However, I can be more serious."
"No, not at all. Be yourself. Besides, I enjoy ridiculous. I know I need it," she said as she wrapped her arms around him.
Gary didn't answer in words, his answer was more demonstrative, he just wrapped his arms around her and brought her close. "I love you Naxea." he said softly.
"I love you too, Gary."
He kissed her softly while their daughters played in the other room. "I believe you said you wanted a Samarian Sunrise, do you still want that and would you like a snack of some sort to go with it?"
"Sure. Surprise me," she grinned
"Your wish is my command." Gary replied "But first, let me make your Samarian Sunrise and a surprise to go with it. Do you want to go back and sit down and relax or stay here?"
"I'll be over there, relaxing," she said, smiling as she jutted a thumb towards the living area.
Gary gave her a salute accompanied by a grin. "Yes ma'am you go and relax and I'll bring your drink and surprise to you in just a minute." As Naxea left for the living area, Gary went to work on fixing her drink and then fixed a light snack of cheese and crackers along with some dip if she preferred that. When he finished her brought it to her on a silver tray. "Your drink and snack ma'am."
"Thank you," she said, accepting the drink. "Cheese and crackers?" she asked looking the food over. It at least looked like terran cheese and crackers.
"Not just cheese and crackers Naxea, There is cheddar, swiss, provolone and mozzarella cheese, You have a wide choice to choose from. Plus this is only a snack and not a full meal." Gary finished smiling.
The last comment reminded her on her childhood. Something like the cheese and crackers would have been considered a meal as she looked at the plate. "It looks very good. Thank you," she said as she grabbed a cracker and a slice of what she guessed was cheddar cheese.
"You are welcome and I hope you enjoy it." He answered as he noticed her looking at the plate and not a look to see what her selections were it was deeper than that. He moved to sit next to her and placed his hand atop hers. "Have I said something wrong? If so I am sorry." He finished giving her hand a gentle squeeze.
"No, it's fine. It's just that the comment about this not being a meal, would have been one on Bajor during the Occupation," she explained. "A luxurious one at that."
Gary dropped his head, "I am sorry Naxea. I didn't think and I apologize. However thank you for being so gracious and not finding or taking offense."
"It's alright," she gave his hand a squeeze. "I'm used to it. Not everyone thankfully had the childhood that I had so I don't expect you or others to think about such comments."
"You are very gracious and understanding Naxea and I thank you for being so understanding, However, I don't want to do or say something even unintentionally that could cause you to relive painful memories especially as we're together." Gary answered as he held her hand in his.
"Just be glad you never met the teenage me," she chuckled, trying to lighten the mood. "She would have bitten your head off."
Gary chuckled softly at her comment. "I am definitely glad not to have met the teenage you as I am quite fond of the adult Naxea. Of course you never saw teenage Gary either." He said with a wink.
"Ah, let me guess. You were the popular guy who was adored by all of the girls, right?" she guessed.
Gary grinned but was quiet for a few seconds before answering, "Oh, I do love the way you think and you go right on thinking like that, you won't hear any complaints from me."
Naxea chuckled as she leaned back on the sofa. "I should go and change,* she announced, sitting forward.
"Alright, you go and change. Remember your here to rest and relax and while you are changing, I'll work on dinner. Any requests you'd like to make to the chef?" The last said with a silly grin on his face. "Oh." He continued, "Please remember to keep your requests PG while the girls are around. The more mature requests can be made in private."
"Surprise me,. And yes, I'm aware of keeping mature requests private" she said, grinning as she walked into the bedroom.
Gary couldn't help but chuckle at Naxea's reply. " As for surprising you are you sure that is a good idea? You may not like the surprise I come up with." he said after her as she entered the bedroom.
"I'm sure," she called out as she began to change.
Gary smiled though Naxea couldn't see it. "Now lets see just what kind of surprise I can come up with."
