Alicia laid out the dinner table, visiting her mother and new siblings was something she was enjoying, but her heart was heavy with Savar being locked away in the brig. Trying to explain to her children, especially Soral who was old enough to understand what was going on, he and Savar had been close since the day she and Savar adopted him.

“Try not to stress young one” Deanna gave her daughter a knowing look, the bond between Betazoids and their children was a strong one. “The truth will come out on its own and Savar will be free to return to his duties, just you wait and see.”

“None of us truly knows that mum.” Alicia responded unhappily. “What if a trial finds him guilty? Then what?”

" He won't be my dear. " Sthilg replied calmly as he took the stew pot from the oven.

“I should have faith in that father, but I just don’t know.” Alicia shrugged her shoulders. “If this doesn’t go in Savar’s favour then I’ll leave the ship to be near him when we get home. I’m hoping common sense will prevail and he’ll be cleared of wrongdoing.”

" I'm sssure it will my dear." Sthilg said, stopping for a moment. Home. Home was here with his family, both biological and adopted. Splitting them up would feel wrong.

Alicia nodded offering a more reassured smile. “I’m sorry I shouldn’t bring a pile of emotional baggage here, you have enough on your minds with the twins.” She gave the twins a smile. “I’ll admit I never thought I’d have more siblings, but I’m glad I have.”

" We're your parentsss, little one, we're allowed to worry." Sthilg replied reassuringly

Alicia smiled. “Thank you father, you know it’s so nice to be able to call you that. I wasn’t sure if mum would ever find herself someone else, I’m glad she found you.”

" Well i have you to thank for that." the doctor replied warmly.

“No need” Alicia smiled more happily. “We’re lucky to have you, and I for one will always be glad to have you as my father and Doctor.”

Sthilg smiled, ruffled her hair before heading towards the kitchen. " Okay what doesss everyone want to eat."

Alicia grinned she hadn’t had her hair ruffled since she was a kid. “I’d love some of that amazing stew of yours it smells Devine!.”

“That sounds like a wonderful idea” Deanna nodded in agreement as she finished dressing her youngest daughter.

The old lizard smiled as he stepped over and returned with a big bowl of stew. Picking up a ladle he began to dish it out.

“Oh now that smells devine!” Ariana smiled. “Nothing like a bowl of stew to make you feel better.” She pulled out a chair to sit down. “I’ve been looking forward to this.”

Sthilg smiled as he began dishing out his latest cookery concoction to his family. Among the darkness that lived out in the stars, some simple pleasure was always there to bring back the light. " Dig in, everyone." He said warmly.

Alicia didn’t need to be asked twice, she tucked into her food savouring every bite. “Mmmm now that’s delicious! Just what’s needed to make someone feel better.”

The old doctor smiled as his family tucked into the food. Nothing like a family meal to raise the spirits. Hopefuly the family would be whole again soon.

“Try not to dwell on what if’s Alicia” Deanna offered. “No matter what you will still have your husband onboard ship.” She smiled as she ate some of her stew. “Wonderful, I’m lucky to have a husband who cooks such delicious meals.”

Sthilg smiled as he watched his family eat. A moment of peace in his hectic life. A moment that made it all worth it.

Alicia gave her father a warm smile. It was good to have a proper family unit again, after the loss of her own father it had just been her and her mother, now they were a proper family again.
