The Commodore looked up as Sthilg entered, offering a small, appreciative nod as she stood.

“Thanks for coming, I know you’re busy.”

She gestured gently toward the sitting area rather than the desk.

“Can I get you some tea? Or coffee?”

Once they were both settled, she leaned back slightly, tone quiet and considerate.

“I won’t keep you—I just wanted to check in. Not the reports… the people.”

Her fingers rested lightly around the warm cup.

“How’s everyone holding up, from where you’re standing?”

" Asss well asss can be given the sssircumssstancesss. " the old gorn replied. " I'm doing my bessst to keep moral up."

"And your team? Do they require more support? Time off? Anything I can do from up here?" Phoenix asked. "And your patients?"

" My team dessservesss a few yearsss off on Risa. " Sthilg said with a slight chukle. " I'm giving them as mussst ressst asss i can, but i only have ssso many handsss i can ussse. "

"Have you reached out to the Academy? Get the cadets some hands on training?" Phoenix suggested.

The gorn nooded. " What cadetsss ssshow pertential i'm giving a crasssh coursssse in medicle, but a cadet isssn't going to replace a fifteen year sssurgen over night."

"While true, they can at least do scans and write reports. Give them grunt work. What was the term I heard... Scut work?"

" We could give it a try. " replied the old gorn. " Sssee if they can free up a few handsss."

Phoenix smiled. "And no special treatment for Miran." She said knowing he had a soft spot for her sister.

" Captain i would never give any crewmember ssspecial treatment. " Sthilg replied cheekily.

"uh huh." She drawled. "Work her as hard as you would any other cadet. Maybe it might remind her that she is not invincible."

" I will captain." The lizard replied.

Phoenix smiled. "Good. It may wake her up a bit."

" I'm sssure it will captain. Now how about you. How are you holding up?" Asked the old lizard.

"As well as always." She assured him.

" You sssure. you mussst feel like you have the weight of the world on your ssshoulders." Sthilg replied his doctor tone filling his voice.

"That's my job Doc" Phoenix said with a smile "Ever since I joined this ship as a Lieutenant. I have had to shoulder a lot."

" And asss your chief MD it'sss my job to see that your ssshoulders hold firm."

"I appreciate that for sure." It was very true. Sthilg was probably the one officer, Phoenix would not argue with, and would listen to, even above the Executive officer. "I don't know what I would have done these past years if you were not on this ship."

" You'd have done fine, Captain." Sthilg said with the warm grandfatherly smile upon his reptilian face.

"Because of the support I have had. I was not at all prepared. I thought they would name someone else to be fair."

Sthilg smiled before a beep came from his arm computer. " Looksss like i'm needed back in med bay. May i be dismissssed captain?" He asked

"Yes but take care of yourself" Phoenix said with a smile.

Sthilg smiled before he stood and headed for the door.
