After changing Anna, Damien, and N'vok into the grey shirt and pants prisson attire, the guards took them to a room with many small cells. Each one was only big enough to stand in, and there was a slight slant in the floor that made settling in rather difficult. Anna and N'vok had been pushed into their respective cells, but Damien was taken ahead through a set of doors that led deeper into the prison.

That was two hours ago.

The time seemed to drag on and on. It felt longer than it was. Anna tried to keep calm. She tried to draw on all of her training. But every part of her wanted to move. To do something.

A pair of guards came through the doors that Damien had disappeared through, and they came to a stop in front of Anna's cell. One dropped the forcefield while the other prepared to grab her.

Anna stood. Her face was grim. But she didn't physically resist at this point.

The forcefield dropped. "Move," the guard barked.

Anna walked forward. "Where are we going?"

"Questioning," the guard simply replied. One grabbed her arm to guide her while the other stayed a couple paces behind, in case this prisoner also decided to turn violent. They walked for a couple minutes, taking turns that led down corridors with doors. Most were closed, only opening as a guard moved another prisoner.

"I'm coming peacefully," Anna said tersely when she felt the man grab her arm. She jerked it but she didn't really fight. She walked with them through the corridors of the prison. No sunlight entered but it was not truly dark. The unforgiving artificial light almost hurt her eyes. She looked down.

The guard didn't let go, instead tightening as she moved.

They turned yet another corner and stopped long enough for the guard to open the door. The room was only furnished with a chair in the middle of the room and a table against the back wall. No amount of cleaning could fully get rid of the faintly darker shade of the floor under the chair and along one of the walls where more restraints were secured.

"Is that blood?" Anna said darkly as she looked into the room.

They didn't answer, instead pushing Anna into the chair. They freed her hands, only to grab the arms to wrestle them into the restraints waiting on the chair's armrests.

Anna glared at them but she didn't fight.

Once the prisoner was secure, one guard left while the other remained behind. Paeki moved to the table to grab a datapad that awaited him, taking the time to look through the information. "I will ask you questions, and I recommend that you answer them truthfully," he said. "How do you know the Lonian named Teevs Dosivi?"

"I serve aboard the Elysium," she said. "He has joined the crew. Surely you already knew that."

Paeki gave no indication if he did. He was only there for answers, not for small talk. "What was his role on your vessel?"

"He was a civilian," she said. "He helped us make our way through this part of space. He was of great assistance."

The guard didn't offer anything to suggest the answer was satisfactory. "What kind of assistance did he provide? Did he offer information on species you encountered?"

"Not to me," Anna said, "but that wasn't my department. I didn't know him all that well, to be honest. He did help me with repairs once. He seemed a very friendly, well-meaning person."

"Even the deceptive can come off as well-meaning. Which department would he disclose information on species to?" Paeki asked.

"Probably science," Anna claimed and then paused, hoping she hadn't gotten N'vok in trouble. "We seek peaceful contact, not hostilities."

Paeki noted the pause and took a note of something in his datapad. "Our records say he was a tradesman while in space. Did you ever see his cargo?"

"I saw some of his supplies," she admitted. "Nothing out of the ordinary."

"Did he ever mention the Kavai?"

"No," she said.

"Did he ever use your communications array to speak to the Kavai?"

"I have no idea," she insisted. "Not to my knowledge."

"Did he ever mention his wife?"

"Not to me personally," she said, "but I heard about it. I don't think it was a secret."

"Had he ever done something that you found suspicious while he was on your vessel?" Paeki pressed. "An impression that he may have been hiding something, for instance?"

"Not to me," she insisted.

"But perhaps to others?" Paeki suggested, raising a brow. That was probably the most useful thing this alien had offered this entire time. He tapped in the datapad again, "like who?"

"How would I know what he did to others?" she shot back. "If he did, they didn't share it with me."

Paeki stepped forward and slapped her. "Sass isn't tolerated here!" He snipped at her.

The questioning continued for hours. An unspoken rule was established quickly: show frustration, or sass, or anything other than full compliance, and Paeki would punish it. Eventually, he decided he was done, evidenced by him finally giving Anna space. He walked over to the door and pressed a button on a wall panel to summon guards, and a few seconds later they appeared. "Put her with the others," he ordered.
